![]() David Jameson opened “ArchiTech,” a historically comprehensive commercial gallery of architectural art, in Chicagos River North gallery district at the end of 1998 and closed it December 31, 2014. It specialized in original drawings by architects and industrial designers as well as original prints, drawings, and photographs by artists inspired by the built environment. It became “ArchiTech Gallery” with the introduction of its new website in 2000, reaching a worldwide audience. Prominent in the ArchiTech Gallery collections were original presentation renderings and office drawings of Frank Lloyd Wright and his lithographs from the Wasmuth Portfolio of 1910. In addition were original plans, drawings, and construction documents from the architectural firms of Daniel H. Burnham, and archives from the estate of Alfonso Iannelli, one of Chicagos finest architectural sculptors and decorators of the early 20th century and certainly its greatest industrial designer. From 18th and 19th century engravings and drawings to original designs by the leading decorative and industrial artists of the 20th and 21st, ArchiTech Gallery brought over 300 years of architectural art to corporate and private collectors today. At its closing, ArchiTech Gallery sold most of its Burnham Collection to the Art Institute of Chicago and placed works in the Chicago History Museum including the entire office archives and estate holdings of Henry P. Glass. In 2017, Jameson began producing online exhibitions that have since ended and continues to write all essays and biographies providing architectural papers for researchers around the globe.
